I am an experienced Internet Technologies professional with an emphasis on database administration and LAMP (Linux Apache MySQL PHP). First employed early in 1996 by Computer Currents Magazine as an assistant to the webmaster, I was presented with a department in a transitional phase moving from a predominantly Microsoft IT department to what would eventually become a LAMP environment. I wrote my first VB application there, learned how to be a proficient IS Tech, and progressed to build an online bookstore (utilizing minivend) in conjunction with one of San Francisco's most successful independent bookstores, Stacey's. It was the ideal initial department in which to forge my career.

My early career included a few contract positions in tandem with my primary employment with a small stock brokerage. LAMP technologies have paved the way for me to develop and manage a myriad different web-based projects, from a credit card validation gateway early on to a full-service independent bookstore's online shopping experience in Alaska. I eventually took on an entrepreneurial project as one of two General Partners of a small, independent Internet Strategies firm founded in 2002, called Ferocity Design. After two tumultuous years we put the business to rest and I moved back to the Lower 48.

Throughout my career I've built many websites from the individual, static variety to the large, integrated and database-driven for a diverse collection of individuals and companies. My formal employment has been primarily building intranets of one sort or another -- be it closing data from daily clearing houses for brokers to reference or building web-based tools designed to facilitate efficiency through a centralized data store for an IT department -- while both the business and periods of freelancing have produced many production-value websites {see the portfolio section for details}.

After 15 months in Portland, Oregon I have found my way back to the Bay Area. Freelancing kept me busy in Portland until I went on to contract remotely with a company out of Los Angeles. After a brief period working for a decidedly promising start-up out of my home county, Marin, I have accepted a Webmastership position for a small manufacturing and distribution company in Windsor, California. It's a bit of a commute, but I'm finding the work fantastically rewarding.

I'm stunned how much I missed the Bay Area and greatly enjoy living in the North Bay with its natural beauty providing a kaleidoscopic backdrop for its citizens' seemingly natural affinity for technology.
